Ranot Vocal Ensemble at the Animix International Festival
At the opening session of Animix, the International Animation, comics and caricatures festival on August 6, 2014, the Ranot Ensemble performed a live accompaniment to animated films that were created exclusively for the group's music.
At the sold-out Tel Aviv Cinemateque, Ranot wedded its newly arranged and eclectic repertoire – old and new Israeli classics and American jazz standards - with original, animated films presented on a triptych panorama.
Before a standing-room-only audience of dignitaries, ambassadors, and culture aficionados, Ranot once again demonstrated its skillful execution of the most challenging and imaginative arrangements under the artistic and musical direction of composer, arranger and pianist Gideon Efrati , with Rami Shuller on Vibraphone and percussion.
Ranot's 30 vocal performers, who hail from the Southern Arava region, showed that a combination of unique creative energies and artistic skill at the highest level can flourish in this rural part of Israel, far from the cultural centers.
In the months ahead, Ranot is planning to perform this rare and exciting marriage of a live musical performance and film animation at venues throughout the country and abroad.
